A Journey of the Starship Enterprise
« on: July 17, 2014, 01:51:55 PM »
A brand new Star Trek Pro has been bought by the Project Pinball Charity to help assist in fundraising events before it reaches its final objective, the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh.

This has been its journey so far and the goals to be accomplished in the coming weeks.

This machine was purchased and set-up at POPs event this passed Saturday at Curly’s Little Shop of Games. It had a few of the tournament matches played on it as well as it was open to the room for people to play at their leisure.

First stop for this machine, to assume it’s fundraising role, was at the Patrick’s Octave IFPA/ Project Pinball Charity Campaign, where it help to generate over $1000 for the charity. A pretty excellent start.

Next stop will be at the Pinball Asylum this coming Saturday, 19th. It will be set-up to help raise awareness and donations again. Come join us to have a chance to play this machine before it reaches its new home at the hospital.

Also, we are going to have a Project Pinball “I support the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh” poster on site that can be signed by everyone. When the Star Trek machine is placed onsite in Pittsburgh, this poster will be given to the patients and parents to show that we are thinking about them and they are not alone with their struggles.

Starting next week, it will be placed on location at Project Pinball’s next charity fund raiser at the La Mouche Salon. They have been a great supporter of our charity and started a Annual Back School Fundraiser for us last year. They donate all of their proceeds from haircuts from their day to Project Pinball. In this setting, The Star Trek will be used to draw attention to our charity cause as well as donations. How cool is that!

This Star Trek is going to make its way to Pittsburgh for PAPA 17 World Championships on August 14 thru17. We have been invited to hold a fundraising tournament during their event. We will be set-up to run a high score contest on our Star Trek and will be joined by another loaned Star Trek to help us introduce the charity to a broader audience.

Final stop for the Star Trek will be at the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh to providing recreational relief to their small patients. There are thousands of children undergoing intensive medical treatment in children's hospitals across the country. We want to help ease their pain and speed up their recovery by giving them a reason to get out of bed, to socialize, and have fun by playing an iconic American pastime... Pinball!

I wanted to share this brief story of one machines journey to help the kids.

If you would like to help.

You can….
•   join us at one of many July fundraising events.

•   make a donation... Anything from $5 to $5,000 is going to help bring laughter and smiles into children's hospitals around the country.
•   host a pinball tournament... Another fun way to help is to host a tournament and donate the proceeds.
•   ... or, just pay it forward by helping someone in need.
