Tourney results?
« on: November 23, 2014, 10:15:07 PM »
Does anyone have the final results of this weekend's tourneys?

I was watching on PAPA tv today for a bit, and saw Dan's sweepstakes drawing announcement and Joe and Bob Mattherws' tiebreak.

The top Florida finisher was Brian Dominy who finished 4th.  Beyond that I can't remember and the tourney was just ending.

I am guessing I am around 9 or 10 based on my match points. 6 points advanced and I had 5 and other people were lower. I had to play a game for pride on TWD. I was not going out with somewhat of a fight even though I could not advance.

Everybody else from Florida was out before Brian and I were grouped.

I am proud of Brian. He played very strong all day.

I am proud of Florida overall. Our state keeps showing the pinball world we have players.

Looks like the final results are:

1.  Trent A
2. Josh S
3. Adam L
4. Brian D

Big congrats to Brian for making the Final 4 and representing!  Congrats to all the FL players who qualified, which was no easy feat in that crowd.

Brian played awesome. This is twice he has made the final 4 at SPF/FPF; once at the 2011 show and this year as well.

It is pretty neat to think of all the Florida players who qualified in this year's crowd.

From what I can tell based off Donny's whiteboard chart at the show, the complete list of players from Florida who made the finals with their finishing order will be:

4 Brian Dominy FINAL 4!
9 Jeff Palmer
13 Dan Coyle
14 Joe Geneau
18 Atticus Palmer
20 Carlos Porta
22 Sebastian Bobbio
23 Rosie Mandragon

Well done Florida!

Donny will post the official final results and of course IFPA will have the points.  The SCS season is winding down fast.  I don't think there are any more tourneys in Florida this year.

Congratulations to Brian, what a run! What a showing in both classics and main tourney for the Florida players. The quality of players competing in Florida is climbing quickly.

It is good to see a Floida player make it to the finals, congratulations again Brian, you were able to put up the big game when you needed it. Can't wait for the next tourney, the waiting is the hardest part.

Thanks!  It was a long and exhausting day of competing ... followed by a boring three hour drive home.  Thank goodness for Dunkin Donuts and coffee on the Turnpike.

I'm looking forward to watching the PAPA.tv coverage to see how the other groups did.  For those that didn't stick around until the end, there were a couple of oddities in the last two rounds which I'm curious to see again.

Being in the final four with Adam, Zach, and Trent was definitely an honor, and I was enjoying every moment of it, even as I fell short.  Interesting that I played my last Pinburgh match this year with Adam and Zach too.

Well, we went into this year thinking I would have more help and be able to step away from the tournament to tend to other duties at the show...needless to say that didn't happen, but we plowed through anyway and pulled off another successful tournament. Thanks to all of you that stepped up and helped to keep score...I can't begin to tell you how much this helps.

Thank you Donny for your continued devotion and efforts. I also appreciate all of the work the volunteers did.  I saw many of our Florida players keeping score in both banks and running errands, fixing games and manning the fort, so to speak.

I absolutely loved the automatic scoring and ranking update system. I think it was big hit amongst the players.

I am also enjoying the trend of the modified composite qualifying format seen at tourneys in Florida and across the country where there are multiple games to play and only the best 5 count. This allows the lines to disperse since everyone is not forced to play the same 5 games. It also provides interesting strategies.

Playing in these events always makes me want to play more tourneys. Looking forward to the next one.

Thanks for posting the detailed results Donny.   I was glad to be able to supply a couple of EMs and fix a game or two on the fly.   This was a tough field to say the least and our Florida players represented.

That software was really cool.   Definitely would be nice if they would release that or even sell it!
